As a member of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim, we understand the Chair as a part of the inter-disciplinary research field in the empirical education sciences. The Chair focuses on empirical research on teaching processes, competence-building, and scenarios in learning and instruction contexts with special regard to inter-individual differences.
Our goal is to improve learning and instruction settings by optimizing the interplay of teaching methods and individual learning preferences, by improving the evaluation of individuals’ learning progress in fields of competence that have been underrepresented previously, and by enhancing teaching with individualized and cooperative learning techniques using new media technologies.
Working with visual-spatial representations is an important focus of the Chair’s research. Please click here for further information.
